On 1st October 2006, I will be running (well, most of it) the Loch Ness Marathon. I thought I'd give this one a go, as I was promised 'an amazing atmosphere at one of the world's most scenic marathons' What they failed to mention however, was that Mile 23 is almost entirely uphill!!

I know that I said ‘Never Again’ after last year’s London Marathon, but Sir Steven Redgrave uttered the very same words after his fourth Olympic gold medal. Obvously, that is where the similarities between myself and Sir Steve end! As you are all aware, I am not what you would call a ‘natural runner’. In fact, an old football manager of mine commented that I was ‘built for comfort, and not for speed’.

That said, training is coming along relatively well, and I am confident that I will finish ahead of Jade Goody, the man in the antique diving suit, a couple of rhinos, a complete set of Wombles (including Great Uncle Bulgaria, who beat me in London) and Paula Radcliffe (who should be in labour by then).

As on previous marathon conquests, I will be running for Marie Curie Cancer Care. Having worked for them for a short while, I can vouch for the amazing  work that they do with the terminally ill. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Marie Curie Cancer Care will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
