Hi I am taking part in the coast to coast cycle challenge from workington to tynemouth shore from monday 25th july til thursday 28th july 2011. I am completeing the challenge with 8 of my school friends and teachers at seaton sluice middle school. We are all age 13! It is going to be a hard rewarding challenge! I am raising money for the butterfly thyroid cancer trust which is the only registered charity in the uk dedicated solely to support of people affected by thyroid cancer. This charity is close to my families heart. My nana was diagnosed with thyroid cancer at xmas 2008 she was cared for by a brilliant team of staff at the freeman hospital newcastle. The charity was set up by a wonderful lady from newcastle, after suffering from the disease herself. They are a patient support organisation working closely alongside, and have the full support of,the thyroid cancer team in newcastle freeman hospital northern centre for cancer care- a team who supported,cared for and cured my nana from cancer.I cant thank them enough as my nana is very special to me. When my nana was having the radioiodine treatment and was in isolation the charity had donated many things for the room to make my nanas and other cancer patients stay more comfortable.
