The Ronald McDonald at Guy's is an independent children's charity providing free accommodation and caring support for families whose children are in hospital. Their stay can be from a few days to many months. The House provides a 'home from home' for parents with kitchen's playroom and a secluded garden.

Story

I've done it :-)

I'm now absolutely knackered - it was 33 floors and my arms aren't that strong! I'm so thankful to everyone for your generous support of such a great charity. As I say below - this place has been a god send for us. There's some pics on the left for your amusement!

_________________________________________________________

The time is set - I go over the edge at 10.45am on Sat!

_________________________________________________________

I'm going to throw myself off a building and so this is a plea for sponsorship...

Penny was born at the end of last year. What you may not know is that since she was a week old she has been in hospital!

Penny has been unable to absorb food properly and lost far too much weight & became severely dehydrated. We went to our local hospital but the next morning a retrieval team from St Thomas's came and collected us and brought us here to the Intensive Care Unit at Evelina Children's Hospital.

Penny was released to a general ward and for the last 9 weeks has been undergoing different medication, food regimes and operations to try and understand what has caused all of this and how to treat her and get her back home. Thank goodness she is too young to realise what she is going through!

As I said, we've been here for the last 9 weeks and are likely to be here for another 6-8 weeks at least. During Penny's first week here I stayed in the hospital with her on a pull down bed but the lack of sleep combined with everything else which was going on meant I made myself ill (literally) and so I had to send myself home for a night to make sure I didn't get any worse! When we got back on the Monday we were told that we'd finally been able to get a room in the family accommodation house.

The house is one of the Ronald McDonald houses setup to provide support for families whose children are in hospital. We have our own bedroom and use of communal bathrooms, kitchen, laundry, TV and wifi.

The house is run by an independent charity called the Evelina Family Trust (http://www.ronaldmcdonaldhouse.org.uk/) and the accommodation is completely free for families and so it needs support with fundraising. My way of giving back to the house is that on the 19th March (yes in just 10 days' time) I will be taking part in a 500m abseil down the Guys Tower! Later this year the tower is undergoing refurbishment so this is the last time this will be possible.

This place has been a god send for Sam and I. By staying here we've been able to stay together and support each other. As the house isn't far from Evelina I can be with Penny everyday and know when I'm not there that if needed I can be there in 20 minutes regardless of what time of night it is.

We think Penny is finally on the mend and appreciate all of the support we have had so far but if you can give anything, even just £1, this will make a real difference for families like us whose children are in hospital.

Thank you in advance for your support and generosity,
Angela x

PS

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
