I am raising money for Crimestoppers by running the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon on Sunday 11 October 2009 (in preparation for the Virgin Marathon 2010) - please help me help them!
Crimestoppers (not to be confused with the TV programme Crimewatch...) is a really excellent charity devoted to preventing crime. Crimestoppers provides an alternative for people who may be reluctant to contact the police directly with information about people involved in or planning crime, providing an anonymous information service through the Crimestoppers number 0800 555 111 and the Crimestoppers website at http://www.crimestoppers-uk.org/. Crimestoppers also runs a number of national awareness raising campaigns to highlight specific areas of crime, and schemes to educate young people. For example, the "Most Wanted" website maintained by Crimestoppers is the only UK-wide place to find individuals wanted by the police, and works in partnership with Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) which appeals for missing convicted sex offenders.
Your donation would really be very much appreciated!
If anyone is up early on Sunday morning and wants to support or heckle the race starts at 9.30am in Hyde Park (Knightsbridge end) (http://www.royalparkshalf.com/runners/race-details/route-map/), or join me afterwards (hopefully to celebrate) in our local, the Prince Edward (http://www.timeout.com/london/venue/15617/prince-edward-pub)
