Hi Everyone,

My name is Anneka and I am Founder of The Angels for the Innocent Foundation, please sponsor me when I take part in The Big Fun Run this August alongside Will Travers of BORN FREE to help the so desperately needed funds to help build Born Free's first European elephant sanctuary. Europe does not have a wild and green sanctuary where elephants can roam free with total isolation and privacy, as if they were back in the wild again.

Virginia Mckenna and Born Free's dream is to rescue all of the solitary elephants across Europe who cannot be released back into the true wild and give them an experience to MATCH that of being back in India/Africa, so they can live their days with company of their own kind and freedom and out of pain and suffering. They will be overlooked by a specialist team of vets and carers but allowed to do what they do best, which is to simply exist alone in nature, not to be beaten and hit anymore, screamed at and stared at by thousands of spectators.

It is alien for a sensitive elephant to live in solitude without company from its own kind. Born Free will provide the environment so elephants who have lived in isolation all of their lives can be reunited with others for the first time. Simply the most wonderful idea ever!

Born free need between 6 - 9 million pounds to make this a reality, but I truly believe that its a possibility. Without this sanctuary, the rescued elephants have no where to go currently except hot, dry and barren zoos.
