Emily Jordan was my neice and goddaughter. Tragically she drowned on a river in New Zealand in April 2008. Ironically, she was a strong swimmer, sailor and scuba diver. Emily was 21 years old and on her gap year having achieved an honours degree in Law from Swansea University.

To ensure that her short life was not in vain, Emily’s family have set up a charitable foundation in her name, focused on supporting individual young people with learning difficulties. This was a particular interest of Emily’s, partly stimulated by the fact that her elder brother has learning difficulties. The Emily Jordan Foundation website explains in detail what the charity is aiming to achieve and the progress to date.

My challenge is to cycle from John O Groats to Lands End, in April, with my mate Dan. We will aim to average approx 60 miles each day for 20 days; an arduous journey for me, as I am now 60 years old and had knee ligament reconstruction last year, after a skiing accident!  The route is detailed on the website and we would be very pleased if people would like to join us for all or part of the journey.

Please support me in my efforts, my target is to raise £25,000 for the Foundation, so every pound counts!!  A big thank you to all who have supported me so far, I am delighted to say that I have already secured two thousand pounds towards my target.

Annie
