Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. In November 2010, I will cycle 446 km for International Childcare Trust (www.cyclecambodia.co.uk ), and visit the M'Lop Tapang project in Cambodia (www.mloptapang.org). Please help this cause and donate any amount!
About:
M'Lop Tapang
The Tapang tree, also known as the ‘umbrella tree’ due to its peculiar shape, provides shelter from the elements. M’Lop means shade or protection in Khmer. Just as the Tapang tree provides protection for those who shelter under its branches, M’Lop Tapang provides a safe refuge for the street children of Sihanoukville.
M'Lop Tapang is a community-based NGO founded in 2003, which empowers street children by providing them with the tools, resources and opportunities they need to become productive members of society.
Helping Street Children
Today, Sihanoukville is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Cambodia due to its pristine beaches, clear waters and nearby tropical islands. The economic activity that tourism brings has, however, attracted large numbers of children to the city, many of whom end up living and working on the streets in extreme poverty. They lack access to basic services such as healthcare and education and are vulnerable to psychological, physical and sexual abuse. M’Lop Tapang represents a safe haven for these children.
Please help me reach my goal, and help these children have a better future!
Thank you for you donation!
