As some of you may know I have stupidly committed to doing my first Ironman in August this year in and around Bolton. For those who don't know; an Ironman involves swimming 2.4 miles (150+ laps of an average pool), cycling a very hilly 112 miles (roughly London to Birmingham, with a vertical ascent of 1.5 miles) and then running a marathon ... all in one day with no breaks ... and will probably take around 12-14 hours. So I thought that if I was going to spend the next 6 months training like a madman I should be doing this for a worthwhile cause...
I am raising money for African Revival whose mission is to help Communities in Africa ... to help themselves
Growing up in South Africa, I really wanted to raise money for a charity that does good in Africa - and African Revival certainly does. They are a UK based charity that works in parts of southern and eastern Africa. Their aim is simple - to transform the lives of rural people by giving them the opportunity to lift themselves out of poverty. For me that has always been the key to creating a positive and sustainable difference in Africa. The type of projects they work on include: improving primary education and supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses. Please go take look at their website http://www.africanrevival.org - its really inspiring
I am looking to raise £10,000 for the charity, but I would be very happy to significantly exceed that amount, so please please dig deep and sponsor me.
FYI - Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thanks for your support
Anton
