I'm taking part in the CPC's sponsored 25 mile bike ride on 20th September. I'm riding to the event with some of the cycle touring club guys, and riding back, so the total distance will be about 75 miles instead of the paltry 25 miles that everyone else is doing :-)
Our son Jamie has severe cerebral palsy affecting all four limbs and his trunk, meaning he is unable to stand, sit or operate toys. Physically he can do very little for himself but he is starting to read and will often sing us whatever songs he has been doing at nursery.
CPC do a form of therapy called 'conductive education' which is a holistic approach combining physiotherapy and general living skills. Jamie attends a session once per week which has led to him being able to roll unaided and play a little on his side. It would be more often but the charity no longer have the funds to keep the centre open all week. They receive no government funding whatsoever so they are entirely reliant on donations to raise the £250,000 or so that they need each year.
You can help !
Pay a donation through the justgiving site and they will claim the tax back as well as doing all the messy stuff with credit cards etc. Just don't forget to tick the 'gift aid' box.
