Story

Thankyou for visiting Archie's Just Giving page

I have set up this page with the help of Tree of Hope to try and raise funds for the much needed and life changing equipment that I would like to try and get for my son Archie.

Archie is a very special little boy, he was born on 12th February 2012. 7.15am by emergency caesarean. This was an incredibly scarey and worrying time for our family as a few months before Archie was due we discovered that he had had a severe bleed on the brain and was unsure how he would be at birth or if he would even survive..

We were told at the time that Archie would have very little quality of life and probably wouldn't be able to hear, see or breathe on his own.

As soon as Archie was born he was taken away to be checked over and to my surprise I could hear Archie crying and I remember the nurse saying ' mum it's ok he's breathing '. They passed Archie over to his dad and we just couldn't believe how lucky we were and how wrong the doctors must of been.

After a few hours Archie started to have seizures and was put into intensive care and then reality kicked back in.

Archie is now almost 2 and he is the most beautiful and happy child you could ever meet but as time has gone by Archie was noticeably not hitting the normal milestones and has been diagnosed with 4 limb cerebral palsy and epilepsy. This has meant that Archie is unable to sit, crawl, walk or stand he also has an unsafe swallow which has meant that he can not eat or drink anything and now has had a gastrostomy inserted. Archie is also at present unable to speak but let me assure you that doesn't mean he can't make a lot of noise actually very much the opposite!!!

So back to the fundraising, Dave and I like any other parents want Archie to have as much of a 'normal' and happy life as possible, and we want him to experience all the things that you dream of doing with your child as they grow up.

We would like to raise money to buy a specialist swing and some other sensory equipment to let Archie experience playing outside which will help to develop his motor skills and help him to cope in different environments as at present Archie has spent a lot of time at home due to him not being able to travel very well and also he has spent a lot of time in hospital with chest infections and seizures. Archie also can become very distressed in environments that he is not used to

Thankyou for taking the time to read this and please if you can donate or at least share our story to try and make our dreams for Archie come true we will be truly grateful.

If we manage to exceed our fundraising target all money over our target will be used by Tree of Hope to help other disabled children.

Thanks Again Debbie & Dave xx
