We provide medical care and support to vulnerable people, through our clinics, outreach work and advice line, with our volunteers and expert staff. Together, we advocate for everyone's right to healthcare access. DOTW UK is part of the Médecins du Monde network, present in 70+ countries.

Story

The Charities - People I need help to raise more money :)

Crossroads Care, Doctor's of the World and Happy Days Children's Charity

The Event

Start September 18 to October 3 2010

consecutive days

Day 1 & 2 - Cycle - Lands End to Tiverton - 145 miles

Day 3 & 4 - Run - Tiverton to Glastonbury - 54 miles

Day 5 & 6 - Cycle - Glastonbury to Whitchurch - 176 miles

Day 7 & 8 - Cycle - Whitchurch to Kendal - 133 miles

Day 9 & 10 - Hike - Kendal to Penrith - 39 miles

Day 11 & 12 - Cycle - Penrith to Fort William - 259 miles

Day 13 & 14 - Canoe - Fort William to Inverness - 43 miles

Day 15 & 16 - Cycle - Inverness to John O'Groats - 134 miles

Total 983 miles

If I get £100,000 I will cycle back :)

The background

Only signed up to the event 4 weeks ago. Never ran more than 5K and never cycled more than 70 miles in one day, only kayaked occasionally and never done any hiking before.

Training is going ok, but already feeling the aches and pains, so 16 days back to back is probably going to be a lot worse!

But my mind is totally up for it, so hoping "mind over matter" isn't just a saying...

The Who

Desk worker, non-smoker and never bought a car from a single lady owner....

The Why

Because every man needs to find his breaking point and this surely should be it for me.
