Why am I running 26.2 miles? In 2010 I had everything: a house with the mortgage paid off; a 20 year relationship; some brilliant friends; a good job; my family. In less than a year, I lost just about all of it. My Mum died suddenly. My partner left me, taking the house with her. I came close to resigning my job and god only knows why my friends stuck with me. Thanks guys.

I found myself homeless and with a drink problem. My boss gave me this piece of advice: "join a gym". So I did and met Vini my personal trainer. Then a joined a running club and met Nic, my running partner. They are both beautiful and completely insane! Between them they have rebuilt me. I have gone from 16.5 stone waddling around the block to a lean, mean, running machine.

On the way, I have run into, or been hit by, just about everything: from the side of a bus to a low-flying goose!

I understand what it is like to feel desperate, in despair and without hope. I gave to the homeless charity Framework, through payroll giving, when I was smug and sitting in my own home. Now it has come much closer to home. Give people hope and dignity. That's why I am running 26.2 miles.
