Story

Hey, thanks for coming to my fundraising page. It means a lot!

My challenge for this year is to step up my training any make a huge dent in my personal best time over a half marathon distance.

I'm just coming up to the end of my first of 16 weeks of training, and beginning to get in the swing of it. Between now and September I'll be pounding the pavement 4 times weekly, to make the necessary improvement to my fitness and hopefully achieve the golden time of 1hr 45mins.

Unfortunately, when I was last training for a big run, my best time was only 2hrs. So I'm anticipating a lot of PAIN between now and then. However, I've made arguably the hardest step already and chosen my new trainers.

I am supporting the charity for which I work - Viva!, who are imho the most outspoken animal organization. Who put blood sweat and tears into delivering a message that helps millions of scapegoats and underdogs around the globe.

Cheers

Ashwah

I will now employ a few guidelines for the next 3 weeks: 1 Nutrition - no crap, loads of brown rice and veg (any ohter tips welcome), 2 get enough sleep, & 3 no booze etc. I will try and tick all 3 boxes every day, and hopefully this will put me in the optimal state for the race

So yesterday was horrendous as I imagined a 6 mile tempo (hard) run would be, and my time wasn't quite as good as I hoped. However I will take this as my lifestyle hasn't been quite perfect as it should.

Last week was hard, so I was forced to focus on my diet. Read my blog entry and check out my energy boosting recipe: www.vegetarianrecipeclub.org.uk/vegan-cooking-blog/ricey-dish-tired-runners

Oh dear! I don't know what I've done to myself. My training seemed to be going quite well until last Sunday when I managed to completely wreck myself on a long run. I haven't trained since, and I'm supposed to be doing a speedwork session this evening, and my body still says no!

So technically I've done 51 out of the 332 mile on my schedule, and going strong (...ahem). Just about killed myself last night on the tempo run, but came in at a good pace so pretty happy :) www.mapmyrun.com/workout/301909401

Good luck with the distance. I will run an half Marathon on Saturday, but I am pretty sure you will be 10 minutes faster than me - at least. I never get enough training in front of the runs.

Well done on completing the run and for such a worthy cause. Fighting factory farming ! As everyone at Viva knows we all have a duty to care for and protect those without a voice of their own.
