We're running the half marathon to raise money for Vital Regeneration, a charity who work just around the corner from the BNP Paribas offices in Marylebone. Vital Regeneration, a charity partner of BNP Paribas, are an agency working for positive change in ’s most deprived neighbourhoods by developing sustainable and effective social, environmental and economic programmes.
The money we raise will go towards 2 projects: Homework Clubs and our Silver Café.
The homework clubs offer children a safe, stimulating and friendly environment to learn, do homework, socialise and make friends. They take place in digital studios that offer a high quality learning environment, where children can access IT, Internet and other digital resources e.g. digital cameras, scanners etc. Vital Regeneration also provide friendly tutors, artists and volunteers to provide support for learning and projects. Positive spaces for after-school learning contributes significantly to children’s performance in school.
Silver Café is an opportunity for older people to take part in IT related activities in a sociable, friendly environment. Young volunteers (16 – 25yrs) facilitate the sessions offering support and guidance in everything from emailing to using You Tube. This programme is a favourite among older residents as it helps them keep in contact with their friends and families both in the local estate and around the world.
