The Oxford Transplant Foundation is an independent charity established to raise funds for the sole benefit of the Oxford Transplant Centre. The Foundation raises funds that are used to enhance the Centre's facilities and to promote research in transplantation. It is devoted to the dissemination of information about the latest medical developments and their implications for improving patient care. The Foundation provides opportunities for stakeholders of the Oxford Transplant Centre -- from patients, doctors, through to carers and scientists -- to work together in continuing to build the Centre's reputation as a world leader in transplantation.

Story

For many of you now reading this, sadly, you never knew Barry & Trudy. They were an amazing couple. Full of love and life, both with the biggest hearts, but with a terribly sad story.

Today, 22nd June 2011, marks the 1st anniversary of Barry's passing. Trudy left us on 16th October 2009.

Trudy spent the majority of her short life in and out of hospital. Barry was her sole-mate and always by her side. Trudy left us after undergoing a multi-organ transplant at Churchill Hospital, Oxford. Myself and my husband were with them both, from the time the call came through to say a potential donor had been found, until Trudy went down for the operation the following morning. Trudy battled for several months before we lost her.

The day Barry lost his Trudy, a part of him died also. He struggled to find peace until Tuesday 22nd June 2010 when he was re-united with Trudy in heaven. We say a couple is a match made in heaven, well Barry & Trudy really were.

They both left such a massive whole in our lives. Today is one of the most difficult days. But in Barry & Trudy style, we want something good to come of today. We are raising money for the Oxford Transplant Foundation, in memory of Barry & Trudy, with a memorial concert on Saturday 8th October 2011. Tickets are on sale now priced at £12.50. The evening is set to be one you won't want to miss. An Elvis concert with an amazing line-up. Deak Rivers, Barry's brother, has enlisted the talents of James Aaron King, Dave Peters & John George, along with Dave Sharkey who'll be warming you all up and Muj Presley, a dedicated Elvis fan making his performing debut. We also have a wonderful guy, Nigel, who will be providing the bar for us, but also donating all his profits from the evening to the foundation. Tickets can be brought online from our website, www.legendsofrocknroll.co.uk, or you can private message me. Please don't use this page to purchase tickets. Your purchase may get lost with donations made by people who can't make the event but who still want to donate.

Deak and I are so very grateful for the love and support we have recieved from people since we lost Barry & Trudy. This concert is not only to raise money for the Foundation, but also to thank you all for your kindness and support in the best way we know how, by giving you a night of the best Elvis Tribute Artist performances that we can.

Please feel free to leave comments and thoughts. Thank you all for you support.

Loving you all

Deak Rivers, AKA Keith Sharp & Nicky Rivers Sharp

xxx

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
