DID IT!! Run my first Marathon in my life! My time was 5.19.42!
Up to mile 16 it was easy going, I loved the cheering people and the great bands playing!
From mile 16 to 26, it was a quite a struggle I could feel that up to 16 miles I have been practising. Above that, that meant something real extra to my legs and lungs.
All in all, I walked 3-4 times only for a few minutes, but generaly I managed to run all the way.
From 22 to 26 it was a little bit easier, cause I got encouraged that oh no its going to end so soon :D, and also I got used to my aching limbs and the rest.
This is the tracker where you can see my progress:
Well thanks for all who thought of me on the day!

Hi,
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page!
After two long pilgrimage walks, I am again trusting in my legs and decided to run the London Marathon, this year on 25th of April! Without question, this is going to be one of the biggest challenge in my life, so I am training hard to be able to run the 27 miles, without stop.
I am running for the Whizz-Kidz Charity, which is a great organisation, with a purpose to help disabled children and young people in the UK, by getting them customised mobility equipment and providing them several additional services, thus helping them to be more independent.
Movement is an important stimulus in early life and is central to a child’s development. From as young as one to two years old, children are already finding their feet, their voice and a mind of their own. But without the means to move around on their own, disabled children may fail to develop the skills and confidence to achieve their potential in life. They can become passive and reliant on others, which not only impacts on their early years, but also means that as adults they are often unable to fully participate and contribute to their community.
Disabled children have virtually no chance of receiving a powered wheelchair on the NHS. Nearly all of the families of disabled children who come to Whizz-Kidz for wheelchairs are on low income and have been referred to the Whizz-Kidz by their local NHS therapist because their wheelchair service has been unable to meet their individual mobility needs.
Every year Whizz-Kidz provides hundreds of disabled children and young people with the wheelchair or other type of mobility equipment they need. Also, Whizz-Kidz help thousands more kids and young people through wheelchair training, specialist advice and information.
As for the numbers, there are an estimated 70,000 disabled children and young people in the UK who could benefit from this support but Whizz-Kidz receives less than 1% of statutory funding. They rely entirely on voluntary funds raised through the generous support of people like you.
If you would like to help too, please make a donation via my just giving webpage, and your money will be transferred straight to the Whizz-Kidz Charity Account. You can make a real, visible and immediate difference to the lives of disabled children if you could donate a few pounds to them!
I know that every little counts so me and the kids will be grateful, if you can spare even £1.
As for me, my main reason for doing this, is because I would like to play my part in the largest single annual fundraising event in the world! Since 1981, the London Marathon has been raising money for hundreds of charitable causes and for me it would be a privilege to run it, especially in the knowledge, that I can help disabled children to become happier children.
I am sure that this experience will be very similar to my Camino de Santiago walks, in the terms of the physical challenge, with a few differences. It's going to be a big advantage not to carry my 8 kg 'snail house' on my back and that the race will only last a day, not a month. However, there will be some slight disadvantages also, for example I will not have my walking stick with me and that I will not be able to just stop and have a lunch break whenever I want. As the running itself will put much more pressure on my knees and joints then walking, I will have to be very careful and will have to walk possibly about 10 miles out of 27.
But the biggest difference will be that this time I am not doing it for myself. It is a huge difference and it already feels good.
Thank you for your support in advance!
Best regards,
Beatrix
