Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page, I’ve signed up to do the London 10k Run on the 11 July 2010 and am hoping to A) not pass out, and, B) raise some money for a very worthwhile charity.
There’s a few reasons I’m not looking forward to this:· I’m not thin, and I haven't been for some time.
· I have been known to indulge with the occasional drink or two.
· I haven’t run for more than a bus in over 10 years.
· I go bright (I mean shocking) pink at the slightest mention of physical exertion.
· I have an ungainly running style that means people will point and laugh at me.
The reason I’m fighting all of the above points is to raise money for the Earl Mountbatten Hospice. The Hospice is the only one on the , my new home, and provides much needed care for over 800 people with terminal illnesses each year. I work in the fundraising office at the Hospice and see how much effort goes into providing care, not just for patients, but for their families as well. It is an excellent charity that needs to raise £4,500 a day just to keep running, so helping them out in even a small way would be greatly appreciated.
Another personal reason is I'm running in memory of my mother, Valerie, who passed away in September 2008. She had a long fight with cancer and was always supported by organisations similar to the hospice, so helping other families receive support is a cause very close to me. She also always wanted to run the London Marathon, and I promised myself I’d do it for her, I know this is only a quarter of the way but it’s a start!
Thank you for visiting my page and please give generously to a worthy cause.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Earl Mountbatten Hospice gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you.
