The Charity
We will be undertaking a series of challenges this year to raise money for PASIC (Parent's Association for Seriously Ill Children). They are based at the Nottingham Children's Hospital at QMC. This charity helps families to adjust to the rigorous treatment regimes for children suffering with cancer, leukemia or brain tumors. They assist with paying bills, increased travel costs, loss of earnings through absence from work, running social activities, providing bereavement support, and much more. A very close friend has recommended this charity and the work they do.

Our Personal Reasons
Alex is a 12 year old girl who has had her first year of secondary school taken away from her. Her parents (my close friends) have the following to say about their beautiful daughter.
"Alex was diagnosed with Lymphoma cancer in October last year and has under gone 5 months of aggressive chemotherapy, operations and procedures. She has been given drugs that if they are spilt on your skin can burn and leave scars. She has been a star and has only complained once or twice about some minor procedures. She has been an inspiration to us, coping with everything life has thrown at her." After 5 months of intensive chemotherapy, Alex now goes in to hospital once a week for her second wave of chemotherapy, which often leaves her feeling ill for days afterwards. However, the determination this young girl has shown has meant that she has been able to start attending school on a part time basis. She is truly amazing.
"There are so many brave cancer kids, they live their life to the full (within their limitations), laugh and make some amazing friends with others. They and their parents are an inspiration to us, coping with horrific life style changes, beyond your nightmares."
What Mike and I will be doing to persuade you to donate your hard earned cash
7th May - 10K run in Clumber Park
This first challenge has now been completed. I managed a time of 1 hour, 7 minutes and 31 seconds. Mike ran a fantastic time of 50 mintues 45 seconds.
28th - 29th May - Three Peaks Challenge in 24 hours
Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, Snowdon
Unfortunately I came down with a virus during this challenge and so only completed Ben Nevis before having to stop. This was however, the most difficult thing I have ever had to do, and I am proud to say I did it in 5 hours which is a good time.
Despite terrible weather and incredibly dangerous conditions Mike managed all three peaks in under 25 hours. Which considering the mini buses were limited to 60mph is truly amazing.
September - Robin Hood Half Marathon
