Our son Joseph was born almost a month early at Newcastle RVI in September 2010 as I was suffering from pre-eclampsia, a dangerous condition of pregnancy causing high blood pressure which can put the life of both mum and baby at risk. Fortunately, although Joe was born very small, he was strong enough that he did not require any special care and he is now a happy and healthy three year old. The outcome could have been very different if I had become ill just a couple of weeks earlier, and too many families are not as lucky as we were.

We set up the Bids For Babies Facebook page to publicise our fundraising and have run two charity auctions via the page - the first for Tommy's, the baby charity, raised over £1100, and a special Christmas auction last year raised £500 for Tiny Lives. We also took part in the 2013 Great North Run for Tommy's - and are doing it again this year for Tiny Lives!
