Thanks for visiting my justgiving page in aid of the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust (CHECT)

For those of you who know me, you will know cycling is something that I really enjoy.   So to be able to do this 300 mile cycle challenge, over 4 days and to raise money for a charity I have enormous regard for, is a privilege and something that I've always wanted to do.

My daughter, Hannah was diagnosed with eye cancer, in 2000, when she was just 3 years old and unfortunately she eventually had to have her right eye removed, at St. Barts hospital in London.  To receive news that your child has cancer is heartbreaking, to also learn your child will lose an eye is utterly devastating.  Rb eye cancer (Retinoblastoma) is a rare, but fast spreading form of cancer which develops in children under the age of 5 and if left undiagnosed it can prove to be fatal, but if caught early enough often the childs sight can be saved.

The extraordinary support that we've received from this charity, has helped us to get through the trauma of diagnosis, treatment for my daughter's disease and the impact of her eye removal.  CHECT is a UK wide charity that provides continued support for families who have been affected by retinoblastoma in the form of support and information, funding research and raising the public awareness of this rare cancer.  The charity is funded purely by the donations and fundraising activities of it's members and supporters so without your help it would not be possible to provide support for families

To find out more about the charity, visit their webpage at :  www.chect.org.uk

Today, I am happy to report that Hannah is a bright 13-year old and as of last year, she no longer requires to undergo any regular hospital checkups.   Her visual impairment does not hinder her from playing netball, horse-riding, dancing, swimming, drama, music, singing, shopping for clothes and make-up ... you name it and Hannah probably does take part in it!

Taking part in this London to Paris cycle challenge will help the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust deliver its aims and help children and families affected by this rare but devastating condition
