My Dad, Bob Jacklin, was a volunteer and member of the Talyllyn Railway Preservation Society in Mid Wales for many years, it was a place he loved. He was an avid train enthusiast and we wanted to link these two interests from near his home town at Cleethorpes to his ideal holiday destination of Tywyn in Wales and also raise some money towards awareness of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.
My Dad died from this disease in January 2010. We all miss him dearly. So on what would have been his 58th Birthday, 21st August, I wanted to mark this occasion by setting the wheels in motion for a sponsored cycle ride in aid of looking into a cure and support for this horrible, horrible disease. Friends and Family of my Dad gratefully supported Help for Heroes when Dad passed away. I now felt it was time to support others who are fighting this disease in my Dad's memory.
The Cycle ride took place on Good Friday, April 22 2011 and we arrived at The Talyllyn Railway, Wales on Easter Sunday.
