Story
In the red corner- a feisty curly haired Emperor of Rome who built the most fortified wall in ancient history (AD122), to defend the northernmost reaches of the Roman Empire.
In the blue corner- a slightly less feisty curly headed 45 year old (me, aka Bob, Bingo Bob, Boogie Bob), with strong legs, who wishes to run/walk/stagger the full lenght of the aforementioned stone built structure for charity.
So why the fight? We have some fantastic friends who have a fantastic little boy called Daniel. He was born with cerebral palsy and as such cannot walk. He has an amazing chance of an operation to provide a chance to walk and thereby gain some independence that he just does not have at present. The cost of the operation and post op therapy will be £55,000. This is no small amount, and as such I really wanted to go on a mad challenge to help raise some money. Having been to Northumberland in the Summer, and visited Hadrian's Wall, the idea sprung that I should have a go at walking the full length of the wall in 3 days (i.e. 28 miles per day for the full 84 miles of the wall's trial). I will be setting off on Saturday 19 October from Bowness-on-Solway and walking the entire route to Wallend, Newcastle upon Tyne. I have friends and family who will come along to walk/ run bits of the route with me, and to offer support along the way.
So what can you do to ensure Hadrian doesn't knock Bob out in 2 rounds? Please provide as much money as you can via this Justgiving page, and give messages of support so that the tri-marathon is as fun and rewarding as possible. Hopefully we can raise a stack of cash and pay a good chunk towards Daniel taking those first steps. What better a worthy cause?

Thanks for helping me defeat that mardy old Emperor and his wall, and more importantly for helping Daniel to walk.
Cheers Bob XXX
