We have set up this site to encourage our friends to make a charitable donation instead of buying us a gift for our wedding. It would mean an awfully lot to us if you could help us out with this.
As you are maybe aware Kirsteen and I took a year out to travel the world. We both felt privileged to be able to do this, but what we did not realise was how much this would affect our view of the world. What becomes very apparent when you leave the first world is how cocooned we all are back home and when you look back how comfortable our life actually is.
We always said that we would like to do something that was a kind of of pay back for the year travelling, and that is what we are doing here. We are asking that instead of buying a gift, make a donation to Concern Worldwide.
This is an organisation that works in the poorest of countries, splitting its aid between long term development strategies allowing communities to help themselves, as well as tackling emergencies situations such as famine.
We had a great year soaking ourselves in the countries, cultures and people in many parts of the world. Now that we are getting married we would like to give our wedding gifts back to the kind of people who showed us so much hospitality and kindness.
And of course not to forget to thank you for your generosity to us and in turn to them.
