I am climbed kilimanjaro on behalf of Erskine Hospital for Disabled ex Servicemen and Women as part of a 16 strong team starting on August 19 2010 and needed your help to raise as much as possible for this worthwhile cause. Erskine do wonderful work but to continue and improve they require your support. We left for Nairobi on 19 August and traveled overland from Kenya to Tanzania approaching Kilimanjaro from the north via the Rongai Route which took 6 days to reach the summit at 19,710 ft ( or 5895m in real money ). Our Expedition was be led by Chris Moon, in 1995 whilst supervising mine clearance in Mozambique Chris was blown up in an explosion in a supposedly clear lane, he lost his lower right leg and right arm but survived through great determination to not only get fit but in less than a year after leaving hospital ran the London Marathon, he has since completed more than 15 other marathons including the Marathon des Sables which is a 137 mile race accross the Sahara. We carried all of our own equipment on the climb and lived in tents for the duration, please support our cause.
