The Bridge is a community special school in Islington, North London. We cater for pupils with autistic spectrum disorders, severe learning difficulties and profound and multiple learning difficulties. Our specialist area of work is addressing communication and interaction difficulties.
We are living in difficult times and schools along with all public services are facing significant cuts. This means that the budget The Bridge is given is necessarily spent on the basics. Most of the budget is spent on staffing, as staff are the best possible resource for the children and young people who attend The Bridge. This is the reason for the Go for It Fundraising Campaign - a two year campaign to raise £1million pounds. This money will not 'fill in' for the school budget. The Bridge is a school that believes in innovation and excellence. The Go for It Fundraising Campaign will fund new innovative projects, that cannot be funded through the school budget, and promote excellence. The Bridge is also an outward looking school. We believe in sharing the good practice that we develop with others. This will also be funded by the Go for It Campaign.
