Story
Dear Friends and family,
Having now just about recovered and with my legs now feeling like they belong to my body again. I wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU so much for your generous donations. I appreciate your support and the money raised really means a lot to me and to Starlight Children's Foundation.
From the start to finsih, the whole day and experience was amazing. With the support from the crowd, not only helping me to cross the finish line, but also to beat my predicted time of 4:30, coming in at a time of 4:15:06
Kindest Regards
Buster White
Starlight is a small children’s charity which has a massive impact on the lives of seriously and terminally ill children and their families throughout the UK. They are the only children’s charity delivering services into every children’s ward in hospitals and hospices throughout England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.
This year they will help over 500,000 poorly children.
They are there for these families in their time of need, lifting children’s spirits in hospitals, making dreams come true, strengthening family bonds and creating happy memories for everyone to share and cherish, whatever the future holds.
On me and running:
I'm aware that a marathon is not the most impressive physical feat you can do. But this is quite a big deal for me, because it will be the furthest I've ever run and will be a real test of character and mental strength as well as pushing my weary body to its limit.
At a Bath game I recently attended, I bumped into Lewis Moody who mentioned to me that he was also planning on running this year’s London Marathon. So it will be just like old times, however, this time it will be two war torn veterans of the rugby field doing battle on the streets of London.
On a slightly more serious note, I ran a PB of 1hour 58 recently in the Reading half marathon and as ancient and wounded as I am, I'm aiming for a time of 4 and half hours. I'll let you know how I did when – if – I finish it.
Many Thanks in advance
Buster
