Back in the New Year I set myself the challenge of completeing a 5km, 10km and Half Marathon this year. Many of you have been very supportive and sponsored me for the previous two races which were both in aid of Cancer Research.
I am now about to attempt the Norwich Half Marathon and training is going well!
The Charity I would like to support this time is The Jennifer Trust. Whilst I was training for the 10km race a friend had a baby son, Leo. He was born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) an inherited neuromuscular disease that affects nerve cells. The condition causes muscles to waste away. It is a relatively rare condition but 1 in 40 of us carry the genetic mutation that causes SMA.
The Jennifer Trust is a national charity dedicated to supporting people affected by SMA, and investing in essential research into causes, treatment and eventually a cure for the disease.
Leo sadly died on the 27th September 2009.
His family received a lot of support from this charity.
The Norwich Half Marathon takes place on 29th November 2009 and I hope to run all the way and raise lots of money for this worthwhile cause.
