Thank you for visiting the KILIMANJARO PEACE CLIMB's page for 'Helping the Maasai people in Africa'.
We are setting out to climb Africa’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro, in Tanzania on Sept 14th, speaking out over two thousand Peace Messages on the way to the summit at 5,895 metres, on Sept 21st, U.N. Peace Day. Here in the crater (dormant we hope!) we will be speaking out a Peace Message from every nation on Earth as part of the Peace Ceremony . This is a bid to make a difference to the peace and harmony of the planet. It is a focus on all nations coming together in peace... peace not only for humanity but for the environment of our planet.
It will by no means be easy... Many of us have never climbed a mountain before! All of us will be struggling to find sanity in the rarified air giving us altitude sickness! Between us we will be pulling a tyre holding all the Peace Messages!Three of us are well into pensioner age!
It will give us huge strength to know that our efforts are helping raise funds for African Initiatives - In particular for their work securing traditional land for Maasai pastoralists and hunter gatherers. There is a situation in crisis for the survival of this ancient and proud people who have lived in balance with their environment for so long... And there is much we need to learn from them.
PLEASE SPONSOR US; Every donation makes a difference and helps address the future harmony of our Earth which is home to us all.
Thank you so much indeed
with warmest wishes
KILIMANJARO PEACE CLIMB TEAM: Tess Burrows, Pete Hammond, Rima Chai, Nicholas Pilbrow, Ann Tang, Jackie Hau, Mary Jackson, Jacob Whittingham, Gideon Whittingham, Nick Thomas and Jessica Hensley.
