My story
Congenital Heart Defects Awareness Week 7th-14th Feb 2012 - WEAR RED DAY 10th February 2012 help us raise awareness and donate....
8th Feb 2012: Rich Church-Keen will be having his legs waxed in Gloucester.
10K Run 13th May 2012: Lynda Johns' grandson, Mason was born with a Congenital Heart Defect in January 2011 and she has decided to run in the Ignis Asset Management 10K in Glasgow to raise money for CHD-UK's fundraiser for a multi-function patient monitor.
PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME TO READ THIS:
Our online auction on Ebay started on Sunday, 27th November 2011 @ 6pm (GMT) until Sunday, 11th December 2011 between 10pm (GMT). So far we have raised £277.99 increasing our total to £2,063.00 (includes online and offline fundraising)
The Auction/Charity Ball was held on Friday, 11th November 2011 at Hatton Court, Hotel, Gloucestershire and we raised around £1,700 online and offline.
WHY ARE WE DOING THIS: keep reading to find out:
(We shall be doing other fundraisers to meet out goal. So, feel free to help us in anyway possible)
We are raising money for 'Wallace & Gromit The Grand Appeal Charity' (Charity Registration No. 1043603) who will direct all the funds raised for the multi-function patient to Bristol Children's Hospital.
The multi-function patient monitors are able to monitor heart and respirary rate, blood pressure and oxygen saturation levels. The cost of the mutli-function patient monitor is £5,000. We are aiming on raising at least £5,000 towards the cost of buying one.
The mutli-function patient monitor is about saving lives and there is a short supply of them.
Is it about remembering the children/adults who have lost their lives to Congenital Heart Defects and about celebrating the ones who are still fighting and living well into adulthood. Hazel, the founder of CHD-UK is part of the first generation of survivors.
The type of CHD that Hazel was born with is called Transposition of the Great Arteries and she is in contact with other TGA'ers who unfortunately are having various complications depending on the person: ranging from valve replacement, heart transplant to a heart and lung transplant. We might have an operation when we're born to help us live, but the first generation of survivors are now experiencing problems. They do a completely different operation on new borns now.
The main reason we want to raise the money for the multi function patient monitor is to give the others the chance of living like Hazel from CHD-UK has.
