Story
On 3rd December 2012 Margaret Legge 'Marg' was diagnosed with Lung Cancer. Upon diagnosis she embarked on an intensive course of treatment which included 6 weeks of daily Radiotherapy combined with several courses of Chemotherapy. The bravery, courage and determination shown by her during this period was inspiring to all that knew her. Whilst the prognosis was not good there was always genuine hope. This was due to advancements in research and technology and the latest equipment available being utilised as part of her treatment plan. Hope was further given by the team of Consultants treating Marg who genuinely believed a recovery was achievable. Unfortunately, despite this latest technology and the Consultant Team's considerable efforts there were complications. Marg was admitted to hospital on Saturday 11th May 2013 with acute kidney failure. Due to the intensity of her treatment Marg's immune system was extremely fragile and this battle was too much for her body to take. Sadly, Marg died on 13th May 2013.
Whilst Marg lost her fight to Cancer she always had hope. Others in the future will survive these instances but only with additional funding and research - THIS IS WHERE WE NEED YOUR HELP.
Those that knew Marg will know that Marg & Pete love their pub - The Change of Horses, Farnborough Village, Kent. The love, affection and admiration of those that knew her has inspired them to undertake this walk in her memory. At 7.00am on 10th May 2014 approximately 10 walkers will leave the pub to walk a distance of 30 miles. The walk consists of 6 'loops' of 5 miles encircling Marg & Pete's home. On the last loop the walkers will stop at ALL pubs enroute in an effort to collect further donations as well as some having a pint in each! The vast majority of walkers (particularly those from Gardner & Co) are not 'natural athletes' so this is a genuine challenge! We sincerely hope you will be able to donate to this wonderful cause and any donations large or small will be greatly appreciated.
