The daughter of a close friend of mine has Rett Syndrome - never heard of it?  neither had I.  The more I understood the situation that was faced day in day out by the families affected, the more I wanted to try to do something do help them.  Retts affects primarily girls, and these poor little girls are often unable to walk and talk, as well as having a wide range of other issues.  It is a lot like being locked in.

As a parent the things that I take for granted like my son calling me 'Dad' and telling me that he 'loves me', are the things that parents whose children are affected by Retts can only dream of.  However, there is a potential cure out there as this condition has been reversed in the lab.  The team I am walking with want to raise as much money as possible to make it happen.  I am one of the 'lucky' ones, most of the team I am walking with have children with Retts.

If enough money is raised and the research continues until a cure is found then maybe the girls will be able to thank us themselves.  Until then I want to help them as much as I can.

Walking 60km might not be alot and might not raise the £££s required but it all helps.  Please help in any way you can.  Thank-you.
