HEY GORGEOUS!
I am trying to raise as much money as possible for the wonderful cause known as Gwalior Children's Hospital.
I first discovered GCH when I went out to volunteer as a play worker/carer at Snehalaya last July.
Snehalaya is an orphanage and respite home for children with severe mental and physical disabilities which is run by GCH.
Snehalaya is so important because without its existence all the children who live there would be in the government run Mercy Home, which having been there, I can only describe as hellish. Please see link below:

As you can see this video was made in 2006 and a lot of brilliant changes have been made by GCH since then.
However, the Mercy Home has a constant supply of new arrivals, both children and adults. GCH needs a constant supply of money in order to move these children from the Mercy Home to Snehalaya. It's really important to get the children out of there as quickly as possible, as evidence was found that some children had been sexually abused when they were medically examined on arrival at Snehalaya.
I will be returning to Snehalaya this summer from 15/07/09- 29/07/09 and running the Windsor Half Marathon in September order to raise money for GCH.
Snehalaya makes a huge difference to these children's lives. Many of them have epilepsy and cerebral palsy, some are HIV positive or suffer from Hepatitis, and almost all of them have very severe behavioural difficulties. It's important for them, as it is for any child, to grow up in a safe environment, and you can help.
Money is needed to:
- Expand buildings to house more children
- Buy nappies
- Buy food
- Pay for electricity/ water
- Pay for medical supplies
- Pay for drugs to treat HIV positive children
The children have been so neglected that they don't really understand how to play with toys and tend to break most toys they are given. For this reason I have fashioned Neetu the sock puppet who I hope will have some success in teaching them how to play as they can interact with her. If you want to see what Neetu looks like please go to photos.
Thanks for taking the time to read this page and watch the video, I hope you can see why I think it is such a worthy cause.
I will update this site with new video footage and photos when I arrive at Snehalaya.
Ps.
Sorry to all those of you who donated last year and were hoping to see me run around Windsor in a candy bikini. I was unable to run due to an incident in India which resulted in me having to undergo a number of operations on my left toe.
I am now fully recovered, and come hell or high water I WILL be running this year... in a candy bikini
