My story

Hurrah we've done it!!

We couldn't have had a better day for the Friends of Aberdeen Citizens Advice Bureau's Big Zip at the Duthie Park - warm T shirt weather with not a breath of wind, way beyond usual expectations for Aberdeen in March!

As you can see from the photos we were all very relaxed prior to our Zip - well, Superheroes (even Catwoman!!) can't be scared of anything can they!!

As the first batch of Zippers was winched up to the top of the crane the church bells all rang out and there were stunning views across the city, down the River Dee and out to sea, all bathed in sparkling sunlight - definitely Aberdeen looking its best.  The launch from the top was a little daunting at first but it was very exhiliarating to speed down the zipline although I was very glad someone was there to catch me at the end.

The event organisers, Vertical Events, were fantastic - professional in their organisation and striking exactly the right balance between attention to safety and reassuring any last minute nerves whilst ensuring we all had fun and kept laughing - they come very highly recommended.

The sunshine kept up all day with the park busy with picnickers and people out for a walk with their families - such a nice atmosphere.

A memorable day.

I will be contacting all who kindly gave me donations for the Zip individually, but I would like to say thank you again - I was quite staggered by everyone's generosity.  Thanks as well to all those who took part in the Zip to help raise money for Aberdeen Citizens Advice Bureau.  Thanks too to all the Friends for all their work in making the event a success and for coming along on the day to help out (and have a good chat!!), but special mentions have to go to Press and Publicity Officer Dianne and Events Co-ordinator Gillian.  Thanks guys!!
