Centrepoint Sleep Out 2009 · 12 November 2009 ·

Centrepoint is the UK’s leading youth homeless charity. Together with our partners, we support over 16,000 16-25 year olds into a home and a job every year. Our award-winning helpline provides support to vulnerable young people across the country. We campaign to end youth homelessness by 2037.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am blessed with a warm and loving family and wonderful friends... some children and young adults aren't that lucky and I am so proud and willing to be able to do something to support this very worthwhile charity.

Over the past five years, hundreds of Centrepoint supporters have given up their bed for the night and taken part in the Sleep Out.  This year's event is at Old Spitalfields Market on 12th November 2009 and I will be spending the night with 450 other volunteers who will be sleeping in cardboard boxes in a secured market area to allow us to gain an understanding of what it may be like to be homeless and to raise awareness of the charity.

Every night Centrepoint houses and supports 830 homeless young people between the ages of 16 and 25.  Whether damaged by neglect, escaping abuse, or avoiding gang culture, young people are vulnerable and need your help.  Help Centrepoint give homeless young people a future, today:

-  £15 helps provide a bed in an emergency hostel for a night

-  £25 can buy hot meals for a homeless young person for one week

-  £100 could buy pots and pans for a self-catering Centrepoint flat, preparing a young person for independent living

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it's the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

I have until January 2010 to reach my target, so please… dig deep and donate now.

Thank you,
Carol
