Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
You may have heard the rumours and for once I am happy to say, the rumours are true! I am running the Great North Run 2009. I have never taken part in a competitive race before and in all honesty I am perfectly content watching from afar, but on 20 September I will be donning on my faithful trainers and taking part in the race myself.
When I was 13, I had a paddy because my teacher was making me do the 800m. Now I’m doing 13.1 miles, this time to raise money for 2 charities and not because someone is forcing me to do it. If that alone doesn’t deserve a donation, then read on...
I’m running as part of the university team in aid of 2 charities – CAFOD and the Jubillee Debt Campaign. The Jubilee Debt Campaign (JDC) aims to cancel all unpayable debt and ensure that the money released by this is put to good use. $100million is taken off these countries each day in the form of debt repayments and I for one can thing of a million things this money could be better spent on! And no, I am not thinking a nice holiday or a brand new car! CAFOD works to promote human development and social justice according to the Catholic faith. The charity will allocate the money I raise from your genorous donations to HIV/AIDS sufferers. Having witnessed the effect of poverty and AIDS first hand this summer, I can honestly say you don't know how lucky you are!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity. Happy days.
The only bit of exercise you now need to do is grab your card and give me a reason to get running! Simples! =D
And thank you for your support!
