The Marathon des Sables is a 150 mile foot race across the Sahara desert.   It is a self sufficiency race so you  have to carry all your food, clothes, cooking equipment, washing equipment and compulsory items in a rucksack on your back.   You are allocated water at check points along the route.  It gets very hot, 45 - 50 degrees and very cold at night!

The race is the toughest foot race in the world.

I am taking part to raise much needed funds for the Leicester Animal Aid at Huncote.  They are a fantastic charity taking in dogs and cats and rehoming where possible.  They never put a healthy animal down.  Unfortunately to keep the animals in their care they need a whole heap of money which is what I aim to raise with your help.
