My story
On July 312011 I will be undertaking an adventure of a lifetime, by sailing around the world as a member of the Clipper RTW Yacht Race crew.
At 40,000 miles the event is the world's longest sailing race and will take ten identical 68-foot ocean yachts almost a year to complete their circumnavigation of the globe. Sir Robin Knox-Johnson says, "Fewer people have raced around the world than climbed Mount Everest; it remains one of life's great challenges and experiences.
While I am taking part in this challenge, I am also raising money for two charities, one of which is Kids Alive UK.
"At Kids Alive we understand the importance of education in child development, and realise it is fundamental to eradicating the cycle of poverty in which millions of children find themselves. The Bethany School in Ethiopia is providing 330 children with a life-changing experience, preparing them for a brighter future. We believe that every child has the right to receive a good education and your donation will make a lasting difference, helping to equip these children with the educational resources to make this possible."
Your donation could provide:
Colouring pens £2
School text book £4
School desk £15
Teacher’s salary £40
For more information on the Kids Alive Bethany School visit www.kidsaliveuk.org/ethiopia
The second charity that I am raising money for is School Home Support and you can find further information about their work at www.schoolhomesupport.org.uk
Thank you for your support for this worthwhile cause,
Catherine
