The drought in the Horn of Africa has grown so intense a half million children are severely malnourished and at risk of death.

It has been estimated by the UN that 29,000 children have died in the last 90 days in Somalia alone. Tens of thousands more have fled Somalia in hope of finding food aid at the world’s largest refugee camp in neighboring Kenya.

Countless numbers have witnessed family members die from sickness and starvation along their desperate trek in search of food and water.

The drought in Horn of Africa is the worst to occur for over 60 years. 12 million people are suffering with 3.7million in need of immediate assistance.

The UN has now declared 5 areas of Somalia as 'Famine Zones'. Malnutrition rates are above 50% in some of these districts; 30% or more being one of the indicators of famine.

It is an issue that unfortunately is not getting the attention it so desperately deserves. We hope to do our part in both raising awareness and funds to support millions of people struggling to survive on a daily basis.

How you say?

In honor of the countless Somalis walking for miles in the drought (without food and water) to reach refugee camps and in order to feel an insignificant fraction of their plight we have decided to set the “Central Line Trek Challenge” to raise funds for famine victims.

In this battle of the sexes the GIRLS will start at Ealing Broadway. GUYS start at Leytonstone we will trek by foot to Tottenham Court Road! A combined distance of 18miles, naturally this is a race and a forfeit is to be decided by the victors!

Girls get the scenic route.
