Thank you for taking the time to visit our new JustGiving page for the Centre for Respiratory Research, UCL.
Imagine not being able to breathe …
Respiratory disease now kills 1 in 5 people in the and is the second biggest killer. Funding to support research to halt these diseases is sorely lacking. The Centre for Respiratory Research NEEDS YOUR HELP to fund vital equipment and researchers and to secure our future.
The Centre for Respiratory Research (CRR) at University College London (UCL) is the ’s leading research centre for lung diseases. We are striving to promote and carry out medical research into the prevention, treatment and cure of lung diseases. We have researchers with the brightest minds carrying out pioneering research into respiratory diseases. The CRR works closely with doctors at The CRR Charity is part of UCLH Charity.
The CRR supports research into respiratory conditions such as: Interstitial lung diseases such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, mesothelioma, infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, and lung cancer.
Future plans and developments:
The Centre is focussing research into three main areas:
- Stem Cell Biology to generate new lung tissue in patients with lung diseases;
- The development of new drugs to treat patients suffering with fibrotic lung disorders, including asbestos related diseases and fibrosis of unknown cause (idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis);
- Developing new therapeutic approaches to treat and prevent common lung diseases caused by viral and bacterial infections.
Please show your support today and help secure our future by funding vital research.
How your money can help: We need more researchers to initiate and continue our research. We need more equipment for new and ongoing studies.
