Update...

Much to the amazement of myself, as well as others, I made it round! It was a fantastic day, with about 9,000 runners. The East Africans ran away with the prizes in under an hour and I was about and hour and 15 mins behind them...There was a great festival atmosphere, with Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan flagging us off and at least half a dozen live bands dotted round the course, doing fairly dreadful cover versions of U2 and Eric Clapton.

There was a team of seven of us running to raise money for CINI and Save the Children.  If you need hard core proof that I did it and fancy a bit of a laugh in the process, then click here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qn_uBsmVWv8

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so kindly and generously to the cause so far. The funds raised are well in excess of what any of us had ever dreamt of.  It is enough to pay the annual salaries of 3 fully trained nursing staff to work in CINI's emergency ward, where malnourished children are treated and cared for.  It certainly makes the pain in my legs right now seem very bareable!

Many, many thanks.

Charlie

I'm not quite sure how all this has all happened (friends and family are very much to blame....) but I'm taking part in the Delhi Half Marathon on November 1st.

I'm running to raise money for a great charity, the Child in Need Institute ("CINI") based in West Bengal.  CINI was set up over 35 years ago and helps protect India's most vulnerable children from malnutrition and its effects, beginning with ante natal care and continuing into adulthood.  In the belief that helping mothers is the best route to helping children, CINI reaches out to women through a wide range of educational programmes and healthcare initiatives.  Operating across Indian society from influencing public policy to going door to door in the villages and slums, CINI aims for a sustainable improvement in child nutrition while trying to protect children whose lives are blighted by poverty.

CINI has an outstanding track record and an unusually high percentage of donations reach those for whom they are intended so be assured that whatever you're able to give really will make a difference.  See www.cini-india.org for more information.  Their 'sponsor a mother' programme is another great way to donate.

Many thanks for your support.

Charlie
