Story

Hello everyone

this is regan story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Most of you are aware that my son regan is type 1 diabetic he was diagnosed at just 5 and now is now 10 It was a very depressing time for us and him  he was rushed into intensive with a doctor informing us that he was very ill you can imagine the trauma we went through ( my hand is shaking as I type ) as a 5 year old he also didn't have a clue what's was going on and trying to explain why he couldn't eat for a couple of days was the hardest thing ever !! Seeing him laying in bed attached to tubes is something a mother should never have to see , I collapsed and myself was taken to a&e the second day !! We had to learn how to inject our son who needed minimum 4 injections everyday and test his blood every 2 hours . when I first gave regan a injection guided by a nurse my hands couldn't stop shaking but my perfect little boy told me don't worry mummy you can do it cos he was so brave the injections didn't bother him , when I finally got up enough corage to do it he told me "well done mummy that didn't hurt " I over come with emotion !! Things have moved on and he now wears a pump which feeds insulin through a tube that is inserted into his body 24hours a day that he has to wear at all times so it shows that in 5 years things are getting better for our children by giving so the cure can finally be found !!! Regan takes it in his stride and even asked if we can raise money for cancer because he thinks it more important bless him , only these children truly know what they go through on a daily basis , when regan has a hypo he is faint and his legs give way it is a life threatening situation which we must quickly attend to him,  regan has his ups and very down days asking " why me " as a parent that is very hard to deal with !!  But also as parents it is resureing that we did nothing wrong while bringing him up , this is the point of the story that anybody at any time can be diagnosed with this terrible diease , he is my rock and prays everyday that his baby sister does not have to go through what he does ( which we have no way of finding out yet ) ! I am not telling my story for sympathy just awareness !!!!! So on the 26th February I will be let's just say a little scared when I jump out of a plan to help push even further for a cure for my wonderful son and also the children I know and also don't know that has type 1 diabeties xxxxx
