Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Many of us have children that we love and cherish:  sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, godchildren, just to name a few.  All of us have at one point been children ourselves.  Children are, quite literally, our future.  However, they are also very vulnerable.  That is why I am doing my bit to help by cycling 466 miles (750 km) as part of a sponsored Bike Ride from London to Edinburgh in order to raise money for The Place2Be.

Children facing challenges such as bullying or domestic abuse can easily go off the rails. In fact a staggering 80% of children showing behavioural difficulties at age 5 go on to develop more serious forms of anti-social behaviour, and over 90% of young offenders had a mental health problem in childhood. That’s why it’s so important to tackle children’s problems before they grow. The Place2Be is a mental health charity working in 172 schools across the UK to support children, families and the wider school community. Their counselling and drop-in services help to stop the downward spiral into problem behaviour by enabling children to cope - instead of caving in or lashing out. The result is happier children with better prospects. And that benefits everyone.

We aren’t powerless to change society; it all starts by changing a life. On 20th – 24th July Quintessentially Foundation will be hosting a cycling challenge from London to Edinburgh in aid of The Place2Be

The L2E Cycle Challenge enables me to make a positive contribution by combining my recently resurrected interest in cycling with fundraising for a children’s charity.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Yours truly,

Chikashi Miyamoto
