Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As some of you will already know, Indy Winfield was born with a serious and rare heart condition. I remember holding this brave young chap when his mum and dad plonked him on my lap when he was only 4 weeks old; no small feat for a guy who had up until that point lived his life in constant fear of babies and other small children.

It hasn't been an easy two and a half (ish) years for Indy or any of his family, but thanks to the great work carried out by the Doctors, Nurses and other staff at Great Ormond Street Hospital Indy is still here making me feel better about playing with toy cars in coffee shops. I promised Indy's dad I would raise money for Great Ormand Street Hospital, so this is the start of me keeping that promise.

Years ago I made a concious decision to stop being lazy and get into shape, but it's time I put that to a greater good. Hopefully you can spare a few pounds to help me reach, or better yet, smash my target. 10 kilometers might not seem that far, but this is my first proper running event - and just remember that I've only ever owned one pair of running shoes since I started losing weight all those years ago!!!

Please donate what you can to help me raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital, so they can continue to do the great work they do for Indy and for all the other children out there who need them. If you can't donate, then please just share this page with as many people as you can over the next 3 months to get the word out there. And if all of that isn't motivation enough, surely it's worth a couple of quid just to see me run another agonising 10 kilometers in those feet-destroying shoes.

Thanks :)

Edit: Given how well the first 24 hours have gone, I've decided to ramp up my fundraising target to £500, and in return for the generous donations I've set myself a 45 minute goal for the full 10k (shaving 30 seconds off each km on my normal running time). I'm not promising I'll make it in that time, but I'm going to give it my absolute best.
