Batten Disease or the neuronal ceroid lipofuscinoses (NCLs) is a group of neurodegenerative genetic diseases occurring in childhood. The BDFA is the only UK Patient Organisation supporting families and professionals and facilitating research.
Friends of ours have a little girl who was diagnosed with Batten Disease last year. They face a difficult time ahead, and sadly, Batten Disease at this time is incurable. As it is such a rare condition, few people are aware of it, and the charity is not inundated with fundraisers. We wanted to show our support for our friend's by raising money for the charity through completing The Great Scottish Run. Our friend's would be delighted if other families could be given some hope through continued research for a cure, and support through the other fantastic work which the BDFA does. Please dig deep with your sponsors, we'll have to in order to get round the race!
