Dear friends,
Shockingly, I´ve traded rowing for running this summer. The plan is to run the half-marathon in Nottingham at the ´Robin Hood Running Festival´ on 13 September this year (under the slogan of ´Balliol does Robin Hood´...). This is in three weeks time. So, kind of scarily close. I won´t be fast, but I will be there. If I make it in under 1 hour 50 minutes I´ll be a very happy (though tired) bunny.
I´ve decided to run for a charity. Last summer I had an inflammation in the brain as a result of which I lost most feeling in the left side of my body as well as experiencing trouble with balance, which affected my walking and general activities involving motion. Luckily for me, this was a one-off occurence. For a good many people in the world, however, it is ´normal´ that specific (or non-specific) parts of their body or abilities just fail them. This is what happens to patients of MS. I have experienced the frustration of losing control over what you can and can´t do and as much as I´m very happy this will (hopefully) never happen to me again in the same way I do want to help. So I´m running for MS Research and I would be very grateful if you could all make a contribution. However small.
If you donate via this website the money will go to the charity directly. It´s safe, I promise. I´ve set the target at 250 pounds, since the event is so close at hand. In fact, I do aim higher. So dig deep and donate! ;)
Thank you!
Love,
Christina
