Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I 've always wanted to do a parachute jump and so when my daughter asked me to do this one for the DAB I had no hesitation in saying YES .
I was 60 in June and thought that if I didnt do this now I never would. Most of my friends think I 'm mad but I'm looking forward to it - however I don't know how I'll feel when I'm standing at the open door of the plane and looking down!! But there's no way I'll be backing out!! Now I need to raise as much money as possible to make it all worthwhile.
My daughter is a Project Manager for the DAB and I know how hard she and her colleagues work to provide services for visually impaired and blind people of all ages in Derbyshire. They desperately need funds to continue these services. The services they provide enable their clients to live independent and socially enjoyable lives.
Any donations are very much appreciated and I'll let you know how I get on.
29.09.09 update -
Well I've done it and the verdict is - IT WAS FANTASTIC. I wouldn't have missed it for the world. It was a very scary experience but I enjoyed every minute. The door of the aeroplane being opened was the scariest - so noisy and cold but there was no going back. I even managed a wave and a smile to Tony the cameraman! Once the canopy opened it was so quiet and peaceful - I felt like Peter Pan! We were floating over white clouds with a clear blue sky above. There was even a rainbow reflecting on the clouds. - MAGIC. The landing was smooth and I was back on terra firma in one piece-thanks to Milko my tandem instructor. I'd do it again like a shot.
