Story

Update at March 2010:  The climb is over. And what an experience it was for Chris & I. And what a difference the water well has made to that village in Uganda. The medical centre is complete and the villagers have fresh, clean water. However, GCF is still fundraising so that a staff annexe can be built, meaning the staff can be on site and the centre can remain open 24 hours a day.

Your generosity has been unbelievable so far but please do keep spreading the word.

Mount Kilimanjaro - the "Roof of Africa" - is apparently the world’s highest freestanding mountain!

Chris & Christl are taking it on at the end of September. The climb takes 8 days in total and we are taking the Machame route (i.e. the more difficult one, unfortunately for me!) Only 2 weeks to go - I must be mad!  But I would love the Global Children's Foundation also to get something out of, what I hope will be, an amazing experience.

So I thank you very much for your kindness and generosity. Wish us luck! :-)

The Global Children's Foundation has already helped raise funds for orphanages and youth projects in Poland, , , , , , , , , and . They also support registered charities. They have almost completed the building of a medical centre (costing £17,000) in Uganda. However there is no water nor electricity in the village so they are desperate to raise money for a solar powered water well (hence the target of £5,563). Your donation will be greatly appreciated to help provide this. Please note: Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they will never sell them on or send unwanted emails. The charity receive 100% of your donation (and a little more if you can claim Gift Aid). Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

About the charity

Founded in 2006 the Global Children's Foundation has already received tremendous support from many people who give their time and skills voluntarily. The Foundation has already helped raise funds for orphanages and youth projects in Poland, Bosnia, Romania and Sierra Leone and we are establishing networks with other organisations to reach out and help children in South America, Africa and Asia.
