Story

The eagerly awaited results from the Windermere challenge!!

The first thing to say is a big Thank you to all of the rowers and the safety boat team.  Without your help we wouldn't have been able to put on the event and wouldn't have raised over £7,000 and counting.

To the day, and as the eight teams warmed up with final preparations and seeing the age and relative fitness of all the other teams I decided to throw in a 'wobbler' and impose a timed handicap on teams based on total boat age.

The final positions

1:   Tulip

2:   Iceland

3:   Direct Table

4:   Sun Valley

5:   Wignall

6:   Wessex

7:   Lakside

8:   Dunbia

The prize giving took place in an Indian restaurant.  We awarded Medals for 1st Place to Tulip (Olympic hopeful included)  and a gallant last place to Dunbia.

A few more mentions are also needed.

1:   Best dressed team goes to Wessex for dressing up as pirates.

2:   Most international Rowers goes to Wignall, who had the Polish rowing team minus one Englishman, Probably the reason they only came in 5th.

3:   The Marathon award goes to Lakeside who despite starting 1st finished in 7th.  They did however manage to see most of the lake as they veered from one side to the other. Everyone else thought they had inside information on currents when infact they just couldn't row straight.

Again a big Thank you to all of the teams and companies who have contributed to fund,  and to those still to put in, hurry up!

From Warren and the Protein team.
