Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
For those who don't know, my brother Richard was assaulted in December 2008 and suffered a brain injury resulting in retrograde amnesia.
The brain is an extraordinary organ. It is so complex that it still defies understanding, yet it is vital to determining who we were, who we are, and who we shall be. Despite being tripped up by a brain injury, my "new" brother is truly inspirational and a pleasure to spend time with; putting a new perspective on things we'd learned to take for granted.
As such, we want to give something back to help others who find themselves in a similar situation. Alex and I have decided to run the Bristol Half Marathon in aid of Headway, which has a local centre affiliated to Frenchay Hospital where Richard receives treatment.
These days the term "head injury" appears all too frequently in the news. Due to advances in medical technology, more and more people survive. But the journey from "survival" to "recovery" is an arduous and elusive one. Headway is a charity set up to promote understanding of all aspects of brain injury and to provide information, support and services to people with a brain injury, their families and carers. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Headway Bristol Brain Injury Association Limited gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please help us raise money for a very worthy cause
