The National Autistic Society is here to transform lives, change attitudes and create a society that works for autistic people. There is still so much to do to increase opportunities, reduce social isolation and build a brighter future for autistic people. With your help, we can make it happen.

Story

I have set myself a huge personal goal for this year - taking part in the Bath Half Marathon on Sunday 6th March 2011. My aim is to raise funds for the National Autistic Society (NAS) and their Bath and Bristol-based Out of School Clubs for young people with Asperger’s Syndrome or High Functioning Autism. As a family we have become involved in the NAS over the last year, and through it we have met many families who don’t have the social networks or the financial resources to ensure that their children get the support they need. For them, the NAS is an invaluable source of help. Within Bath and Bristol the NAS runs Out of School Clubs for young people with Asperger’s Syndrome or High Functioning Autism, the only ones in the region. This clubs are now threatened with closure by the end of March 2011 due to cuts in funding by the local authorities. The NAS needs £5,000 to keep the clubs going for the next six months, by which time further public funding may become available. That is why I have decided to raise ffunds for the NAS and in particular for the Out of School Clubs. The money raised will be divided between the NAS in general and the Clubs.
Thank you very much for your support!
Claudio
